Our Thanks To Pam Madoff ... Past NJNA Council Liaison

December 4, 2018 Janney Claire Alexi
Flowers To Pam Madoff.jpg

Pat ... Thank you for all of your hard work on behalf of NJNA and all of the people of Victoria.  We hope that you will return and we look forward to doing great things with you in the future.

Sheena ... Our community association and Land Use Committee have benefitted tremendously from Pam Madoff's advice and assistance as our Council Liaison.  Pam is friendly, approachable and an incredible source of knowledge about all things to do with the City - land use, heritage planning and Arts and Culture.  Her wisdom and guidance in helping shape the City's growth will be sorely missed.  I sincerely hope she can find a new niche for her talents where she can once again help our City to flourish in ways we all benefit from.  Thank you so much, Pam.

Jean ... Pam has served as the Councillor Neighbourhood Liaison to the North Jubilee Neighbourhood Association for more than one term with her last one ending due to the recent elections.  She fulfilled her role and responsibilities as our Councillor Liaison with integrity and was always available for Community and CALUC Meetings, and for coffee chats with Board or Land Use Committee members to assist us in better serving our community.  She prepared reports for our Newsletter, directed residents to City staff in order to obtain the assistance they required and she was also a participating member of the RJH Neighbourhood Committee while it was working on the RJH Master Campus Plan and the Patient Care Centre.  As Begbie Hall is a National Historic Site, it garnered Pam's particular interest. Pam was also the Liaison for South Jubilee and our neighbourhoods will miss Pam's guidance as the new Jubilee Neighbourhood Plan evolves due to her first-hand knowledge of our community and its history.  We also received her notice when topics were on various agendas at City Hall that could directly affect North Jubilee.

Thanks, Pam, very much for all your time, effort and concern that was offered to our community over the years in such an easy manner ... I did want to let you know how much it was appreciated ... you will be missed.

VICTORIA, BC — On Sunday, November 4 the City of Victoria will celebrate Tree Appreciation Day with plantings and activities at the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park.

Media and the public are invited to bring their gloves and their questions, and join Parks staff for a morning of fun, learning, and tree planting between 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Take part in educational activities at the Cameron Bandshell or join a free tree tour through Beacon Hill Park. Activity stations will include an “Ask an Arborist” table for questions about tree care and tree identification, a children’s art station, a planting station and more!

City arborists will lead hourly tree tours through the natural areas of Beacon Hill Park at 11 a.m. and 12 noon. Tours will leave from the Cameron Bandshell. Accessible tours will be available. There will also be a few tours that take participants ‘off the beaten path’ into natural areas.

Tree Appreciation Day is an annual event that recognizes the importance of trees in the urban environment. The City manages an urban forest of approximately 33,000 trees on 300 kilometres of boulevards and in 137 parks and open spaces. To date in 2018, the City has planted 265 trees. The City’s Urban Forest Master Plan encourages opportunities for community members to participate in tree plantings. Since 2006, this annual event has brought the community together to plant more than 400 trees and shrubs in City Parks.

Parking is available along Douglas Street just northwest of Circle Drive and in Beacon Hill Park near the petting zoo. The event will be held rain or shine and warm refreshments will be served.
